The University Education Award (UEA) recognizes the outstanding achievements of faculty members in teaching, curriculum and programme development, and pedagogical innovation. There are three categories under the UEA, for (1) Individual General Faculty Members, (2) Individual Early Career Faculty Members, and (3) Collaborative Teams.

The UEA is aligned closely with the annual University Grants Committee (UGC) Teaching Award, which has the same number of Award categories. The recipients of the UEA will be nominated for the UGC Teaching Award. Only one nomination for each of the three categories may be made by the participating universities.
