Faculty Resources / Interdisciplinary Learning and Research
The University recognizes the value of interdisciplinary learning and research. Novel insight and innovative solutions often emerge when different perspectives connect, merge, or even collide.
Interdisciplinary programmes such as Data Analytics have drawn substantial student interest, and faculty members are encouraged to collaborate in teaching or developing new courses, with other colleagues in CUHK or partner institutions outside Hong Kong. The Centre for Learning Enhancement and Research (CLEAR) conducts workshops and research on interdisciplinary learning.
Major competitive research grants awarded by the Research Grants Council of the Hong Kong University Grants Committee emphasize interdisciplinary collaboration. Research output and impact arising from interdisciplinary research are recognized in the faculty performance review process. For the assessment criteria of staff review, please refer to the Academic Staff Handbook and the Human Resources Office’s website (staff login required). Administrative support and facilities are available to promote interdisciplinary learning and research at the University.
