Provost decided in close consultation with Faculty Deans that a policy to manage the active on-campus and mixed-campus Self-financed Taught Postgraduate Programme (SFP) quota should be established. Accordingly, in October 2014, a policy that governs the SFP quota in 2015/16 was proposed and implemented. Subsequent RAC papers in November 2015 and November 2016 reviewed the SFP quota policy and proposed some improvements. In November 2017, an enhanced mechanism for reviewing/approving proposals of new SFPs and requests for extra quota places was endorsed by the Deans’ Committee and RAC. In particular, the hitherto ad hoc process was formalized with the establishment of Self-financed Taught Postgraduate Programmes Quota Allocation Committee (SFTQAC), which synchronizes with the approval process of new programmes.
