2015-16 (Round 2)

The University has designated new funds to recruit additional PhD students for strategic projects with the following provisions:

  1. The 2015-16 Scheme (2nd round) is set to enroll full-time PhD RPg students.

  2. The support will only cover research postgraduate stipends (PGS) during each student's normative study period for a PhD degree (MPhil study programmes will not be supported under this scheme).

  3. Tuitions will be collected from each supported student by the University. However, academic units can choose to provide tuition fee supports to the students; in which case the relevant academic units should transfer the appropriate amount to the University.

  4. As a general principle, the RPg places under this scheme are designated for the project (not to a particular researcher) and not transferrable to other projects. The PI/Equivalent of the group is asked to collectively coordinate the bidding of student intake places and decide on the allocation within the group and with teams cognate with the group. Please refer to the list of eligible projects/groups for the name of the PI/Equivalent.

  5. If you are interested, please return the completed application form to Provost’s Office on or before 9 March 2015. Electronic records are preferred. The CUHK internal memo and the application form are available from the archive on this webpage.

  6. Upon the release of results on 19 March 2015, the PIs/Equivalent of the groups are requested to file the student applications for PhD admission to the Graduate School via respective Division Heads.
