Terms of Reference

  • To review the existing rules regarding teaching positions without research portfolio (e.g. Professional Consultants and Part-time Teachers).
  • To review the existing rules regarding the (re-)engagement of retired academic staff or other academic staff for teaching positions without research portfolio (e.g. as “Teaching Professors” or “Professors (Teaching)”) on such adjusted remuneration packages as appropriate (e.g. salaries not higher than before retirement/re-engagement and the annual teaching appointment to be less than 12 months).
  • To report recommendations to the Provost by the end of November, 2011.
  • To formulate consolidated proposals for policies regarding teaching positions mentioned in the previous two paragraphs for implementation across all Faculties on the understanding that (i) conditions imposed by the CUHK Statutes and the Council are observed, (ii)  Faculty-specific aspects should be minimized, and (iii) high teaching standards at CUHK are maintained.
