The ad hoc committee was set up to advise the Provost (1) the metrics for assessing student performance, including but not limited to grade point average (GPA) and grade distribution and (2) refinements of the existing grading practices that enable potential employers or higher education institutions to assess and compare our graduates against those from other institutions. In November 2011, the Deans Committee received the report. Accordingly, the recommendations in respect of the grading system were put up for discussion at the Senate Committee for Teaching and Learning.
